Arrival Procedures

The front doors open at 7:05 a.m. to all students. Please do not drop off students until this time. There is no supervision outside the building.
The school day begins at 7:30 a.m. for students and the tardy bell rings at 7:45 a.m. Any student who arrives at school after 7:45 a.m. must report to the office for a tardy slip. It is the parent’s responsibility to insure the child arrives at school on time.
Knox County Schools Board Policy states “students who habitually arrive at school at least 15-30 minutes late are considered excessively tardy and are to be referred to the social services worker.”

Dismissal Procedures

Students are dismissed at 2:45 daily. These students must be picked up by parents or daycare vans/buses, be transported home by bus, or report to SHADES of Development after school day care.

After the first two weeks of school, we respectfully ask that you do not walk your child to his/her classroom on a regular basis. There is a place where your child is supervised until dismissal to the classrooms and the halls are monitored during the transition time. We appreciate your trusting us with your children’s safety.

Additionally, we ask that you do not wait outside the classroom for dismissal. All students leaving before 2:45 must be signed out in the office

Please ensure that the person who is sent to pick up your child is on your student's emergency contact list. If the person who is picking up your student is not on the emergency contact form and cannot provide photo identification verifying identity, the student will not be released from school.

Students should be picked up no later than 3:00 p.m. Teachers are off contract at 3:15 p.m. If you know that you will be late in picking your child up, please contact the school to let us know. Oftentimes, this is helpful for the students so they expect to be picked up late.

Specific Procedures

Students Eating Breakfast
Upon arrival, students who are eating breakfast will report to the cafeteria before going to their designated area to wait before dismissal to their classrooms at approximately 7:30 a.m. If your student eats breakfast at school, it is important to get them to school in time for them to enjoy their breakfast.

Only buses, daycare vans/buses, and handicapped students may use the school's front entrance (from Merchants Drive). No private vehicles will be allowed in the bus loading-unloading area or behind the school for dropping or picking up students.

Cars will unload in the back of the school at the gymnasium entrance. Visitor parking will be provided in the parking lot in front of the building. Please do not park in spaces designated “Staff”.
